Biosystems AS has a new technology that will reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and waste sludge, and turn this into renewable energy.

The company has patented and tested a photobioreactor that contains microalgae. The microalgae contain large amounts of Omega 3 oils, protein and antioxidants.

The microalgae are found naturally in freshwater and seawater where they grow rapidly on CO2, mud and artificial light in a photosynthesis. One kilogram of starter algae can turn into one tonne of produced algae in 2 weeks in the Bioreactor.

The technology can be used wherever greenhouse gases and sewage sludge are emitted to industrial plants, biogas plants and aquaculture. Biosystems aims to become a leading supplier with its pioneering technology for the purification of CO2, and is now aiming to scale up the reactors for industrial production of high-quality algal biomass.

Algae products are a growing market as the products are based on natural phytoplankton and are 100% pure without artificial substances. The product can be used in raw materials for lining, degradable plastics, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, while reducing climate emissions will have a significant environmental benefit .
