About BioSystems

Biosystems was established in 2014 with a patent application for a Photobioreactor that was intended to produce raw materials for salmon feed and at the same time collect and clean the farming sites of sludge and waste. This work resulted in patents for the technology in 5 countries. Since then, the company's founder, civil engineer Jan Erik Kyrkjebø, has further developed the concept to also include a photobioreactor on land, and today built a demonstration plant at Mongstad. This installation has worked convincingly without stopping and has shown promising results on algae production with control using artificial light.

The technology is scalable and the bioreactor has the advantages that it is very space-saving, robust and can be built on a large scale. The founding team has built up solid knowledge and expertise in microalgae production of phototrophic microalgae. Grunder has a solid background in the delivery of technology within the farming industry with over 500 installations in 34 countries and even ran his own salmon farming company in Chile.

Biosystems AS will probably become a leading supplier of bioreactors on a larger scale within a short time, and at the same time could assume the same role as a supplier of renewable energy in the future.
The company is now making a larger share issue and we are starting to hire more staff to
meet the growing demand for microalgae products.
